Creative ways: Throne meditation

Creative ways: a five minute breather to tune out from the stress and busyness, tune in to peace, stillness and the presence of God. Take a moment, tune out, tune in.

I am the only one here

In the silence of dusk

Just standing and listening

Under the weight of all the prayers prayed here

My heart races although it’s utterly peaceful

I’m completely at home and yet it’s as if we’ve never met

The rush of joy to see you

Covers all my imperfect understanding

And my mean choices of yesterday

This vast and beautiful space

given over to just me and you

So I’m standing at the door

Leaning fully against the heaviness of it

Pressing into the preciousness of it

Pushing my whole body slowly as it opens silently

And so easily

Just a little gap

Allows me to see

Across a space that’s open and free

It’s a cool shining marble floor

And yet a field of green too

A calm and quiet cathedral space

And yet winding alleyways of memories

It’s so fit for a king

And yet I am here

There’s no audible call but I hear it,

My name and so I know I’m here to see Him

And the hurried walk through the dusky

vast but warm space

Takes an age but only a moment

To the throne

Where He sits

The perfect Father

Leaning forwards to see me better and as soon as He can

There’s a connection that makes sense of it all

Everything that’s been before

Suddenly I realise I’m kneeling

Face down

The cool marble floor

Slows my breathing

I’m aware of the sound of the sea

Just a distant wave

And the sense of someone else kneeling beside me

Really close

So close our arms touch

Our breathing in time.

Jesus...

A rush of joy
